AN Experience of a Lifetime: DMZ Tour

Don’t leave Korea without having gone on the DMZ tour, because your experience will be incomplete.

DMZ

DMZ

-Demilitarized Zone only EXISTS in Korea.
-It is known as the safest battlefield/war zone in the  world.

I was hiding lol

I was just chilling on the rail tracks

How to Book a Tour

-You can book your reservation online at: http://www.dmztours.com/
-You will get an e-mail notification of your reservation
-You will need to confirm your reservation by providing the following information:

1. Guest name:
2. Mobile Phone Number:
3. Number of guest:
4. Hotel information(Hotel name and detail address):
-You can e-mail them at: koreanseoultour@gmail.com

Random picture I took on the way to the DMZ

Process

-On the day of the tour, you will meet at the pick up location you stated in your confirmation e-mail
-You will need your passport on the day of the tour
-The ride from our pickup location (Itaewon, Seoul..on the of Hamilton Hotel and KFC) was about an hour or so
-The English tour guide will greet you and talk to you throughout the bus ride (not the entire bus ride)
-Upon arrival you will need to have your passport handy for the soldier to check
-The soldier came on the bus with a serious face (he meant business lol, but he was cute bruh) to check your passport for identity purposes (THIS IS WHY IS SO IMPORTANT TO HAVE YOUR PASSPORT OR ELSE YOUR DOOMED ON THE DAY OF YOUR TOUR)
-When all that is done with you can hop off the bus and enjoy a tour of a lifetime

Both of these pictures were taken randomly as I was walking through the DMZ

Fee

-You can pay on the day of the tour
-I believe it was 46 thousand won or 50 thousand won
-The cost is totally worth it
-You will have packages to choose from and some of them will include a lunch.
-We did not get to have lunch that day, and to my memory I honestly believe it was because we did not want to eat Korean food (if you live in a small town, you will understand our struggle)

Bruh, Behind us was North Korea, Like how crazy is that.

Dora Observatory

-This allows you access view to North Korea
-To use the telescope is 500 won, so 55 or 60 cents in Canadian money
-It was an amazing view and also a nerve racking experience
-According to the tour guide, this was the closest view to see North Korea
-This was the craziest, coolest and most adventurous thing I have ever taken part in…(I know I know am a nerd lol)

I took these images when we were up at the Dora Observatory.

Random Fun Facts:

-When I watched The Interview, I saw some familiar scenery we saw on the day of our tour. I felt cool lol.
-THEY HAD A POPEYES THERE TOO!!!!!!!!!!!!!
Behind me is the POPEYES restaurant

DMZ Theater & Exhibition Hall

We saw a 10-15 minute documentary on the history of North and South Korea
-It was very informative

I took this picture of the third tunnel before we entered  (History about the tunnel)

The 3rd Infiltration Tunnel Experience
This was so scary for me and I was actually very hesitant to do it, but I put on my big girl pants and went for it
-We had to put all our belongings in a locker
-NO CELLPHONES WERE ALLOWED TO BE TAKEN IN THE TUNNEL (I was crushed)
-We had to wear a yellow helmet (it looked like a construction helmet lol)
-You are allowed to bring a camera, or a cellphone obviously to the tour, but sadly it was prohibited to be taken with you in the tunnel

This was at the Unification village

Hope for unification

-Tong-il-Chon (Unification village) is near by the DMZ
-You need a special pass to get into the village
-We were allowed to the village with our tour guide……..hehehehehehehehehehe
-There are 133 families living here and most of them are farmers (tour guide told me)

This gave me hope that one day North and South Korea will be ONE.

-Cars are not allowed

-YOU MUST BRING YOUR PASSPORT ON THE DAY OF YOUR TOUR, OR ELSE YOU WILL NOT BE ALLOWED ENTRY!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
